NEW YORK — The Islanders surrendered four unanswered goals in the second and third periods and dropped an important game to the Columbus Blue Jackets, 4-1. Oliver Bjorkstrand, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Brandon Dubinsky and Cam Atkinson all scored for the Blue Jackets. John Tavares had the only goal for the Islanders in the loss.

Isles Insights: Islanders Snap Losing Streak in Shootout win over Devils
NEW YORK — The Islanders picked up their most important win to date on Sunday, snapping a five-game losing streak with a 5-4 shootout win over the New Jersey Devils. Brock Nelson scored the winning goal in the shootout, while the Islanders offense rallied from two goals down in the third period to force overtime. Sebastian Aho scored his first NHL goal to start the rally and Cal Clutterbuck tied the game in the final five minutes.

Islanders Name Fred Brathwaite Head Goalie Coach
Fred Brathwaite will be the Islanders new head goalie coach, the team announced on Monday. Brathwaite is the latest new addition to the Islanders coaching staff, which has seen abundance of change during the offseason. The former NHL goaltender was on Long Island during the team’s mini camp at the end of June. Islanders head coach Doug Weight is quite familiar with Brathwaite from his days with the Edmonton Oilers in the 1990s.
