Best Tools: 2017 Clearwater Threshers

Reflecting back on the 2017 season, below are my picks for best tools among Clearwater Threshers this year. Best Fastball: Sixto Sanchez Sanchez hit triple digits a handful of times across his five starts for Clearwater. His heater easily sits around 97-98 mph, and he gets it over the plate consistently, having walked only 18 … Continue reading Best Tools: 2017 Clearwater Threshers →

“Looks Like We Made It, …”

With apologies to Barry Manilow, we have survived Hurricane Irma.  I live in a Clearwater non-evacuation zone, so we decided to shelter in place with family and friends when the storm was projected to turn north above Cuba and travel up the east coast of Florida.   As the weekend approached, and projections changed every … Continue reading “Looks Like We Made It, …” →

Box Score Recap – 8/5/2017

Sixto Sanchez made his Clearwater debut last night and began the learning process at the higher level.  He gave up his career high in hits, his stateside high in runs, and his season low in strike outs as the Threshers lost. Lehigh lost in spite of HRs from Hoskins (27), Florimon (9), and Crwaford (12).

Box Score Recap – 6/12/2017 (and a brief XST report)

Lehigh Valley and Reading were not scheduled on Draft Night. Clearwater was suspended due to rain after the top of the third, wasting a Cole Irvin start. Lakewood’s was the only game completed among the affiliates.

Box Score Recap – 5/13/2017

Not much action as three of our four affiliates had their games rained out.  A rain out was a possibility in Clearwater, but rain entered and left the area in time for a delayed start.  A postponement might have been better since starter Seranthony Dominguez left in the fifth inning with a reported arm injury.
