Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukkah homies! While you were reading this sentence, Russell Westbrook just successfully threw another alley-oop to Steven Adams. Westbrook spent the entire game showing exactly how much distance there is between up-and-coming star and bonafide superstar. Towns and Wiggins did just enough to keep the contest within spitting distance, but the Wolves just couldn’t string together enough possessions to mount any sort of comeback
By Sean Kennedy ( @PhillyFastBreak ) Wednesday night was supposed to be a showdown between two of the best big men in the game in Joel Embiid and DeMarcus Cousins. As an added bonus, Embiid had seen his minutes restriction bumped up to 28 minutes earlier in the day, a very welcome surprise after the team had previously announced his minutes would not be reevaluated until around Christmas. However, instead of 28 minutes of Embiid and 48 minutes of Sixers basketball, zero total minutes were played due to about the closest thing to a rain-out as we’re ever liable to see in professional basketball

13 games into their 2016-2017 NBA season, the Charlotte Hornets are currently winning 61.5% of their games, which means they’re on pace to win 50.4 games this season, a record that would be way over what Vegas had them projected to finish (42.5 over/under) with before the season even began. Despite seeing 40% of their team roster changed over the offseason, the 2017 Hornets are still possessing one staple that helped them earn a playoff seed last season – a top 10 defense.
The San Antonio Spurs have played just seven regular season games so far in their young 2016-17 NBA season. While team and player statistics can dramatically increase or decrease from night to night because of the small sample size early in the season, game film can stay pretty consistent and show a glimpse of some sets the Spurs will continue to use down the road. One such set that’s been used a few times to get the Spurs’ traditional power forwards (LaMarcus Aldridge and David Lee) some good efficient looks, has been a post entry from the Horns set.
When you out manage the eventual world champion manager, expect to be rewarded. On Friday, the Cleveland Indians exercised the 2019 and 2020 clubs options on the contract for Terry Francona .

NYPhilsmaniac 19 is at it again, this time at Lakewood. Flat out great job with the report. PITCHING: Nic Hanson made his return to Lakewood after a rehab start with GC. Hanson went six solid innings, but was facing a last-place Rome offense. Hanson’s fastball was consistently in the high 80′s, topping out at 90 exactly. His offspeed deliveries varied from 79-82. I would assume the gun was pretty accurate since the Rome starter regularly lit it up at 95-97 (must have been pretty straight FB’s since we knocked him around). Hanson was able to mix things up well enough to avoid much damage.
